Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Year 6 Foxes

Welcome to Foxes

Class Teacher: Mrs Carpenter
Learning Support: Mrs Wedge

Welcome to our final half term of the year. I want to thank you all for your support and to the class for making it a fun-filled year.

This half term is jam-packed with events such as: the dance festival, sports day, saffron lane, our residential, transition days, leavers BBQ and of course the end of year production - which this year is 'Ye-Haa'.

Mathematics

We will be using our knowledge and skills from the year to design our own theme park, thinking about budgets, staffing, mishaps and ticket sales - I look forward to seeing how creative they can be and how good they are at running a business. We will also be looking at some transition work, getting ready for high school - this will include, binary and calculator skills.

English

We are focussing our English lessons around the famous poem from Lewis Carrol 'The Jabberwocky' - learning about portmanteau, descriptive languages, stanzas and using ai to create images from our work.

We will be reading in school every day, through individual lessons, quiet reads, 1:1 reads, class reads 'I read, we read, you read' and with our class book. Please ensure that you have a reading book in school every day and please read at home, at least 5 times a week. Reading is vitally important for all aspects of school life.

Through the Wider Curriculum, Foxes class will be learning about Globalisation in Geography. Science will focus on Light and in History we are researching and discussing the Civil Rights Movement in America. In our Art lessons we are learning about the Renaissance period and how artists tried to change the form of art to make it represent the bible and real life.

Our PE will take place on a Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday will be gymnastics and so remember to bring your shorts. On both these days, please remember to come in your correct school PE kit.
